Mumbai Indian’s (MI) new recruit Dewald Brevis left everyone surprised with fierce batting in the U19 World Cup for South Africa this year and now he will now be looking to prove his worth in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. He has been popularly called ‘Baby AB’ for his similarities in batting style with one of the best batters in the last decade, AB De Villiers. Brevis was picked up for INR 3 Crores by MI after an immense bidding war with Punjab Kings and Chennai Super Kings.

Brevis might be one of the untested commodities having played just two List A matches and nine T20 games so far, but there is no doubt about his batting potential. He was the highest run-getter in the U19 World Cup 2022 in the West Indies as he had amassed 506 runs in six innings at an average of 84.33, hitting two centuries and three half-centuries in the process as well.

Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians‘ official Twitter handle, MI Paltan, has been following the youngster from close quarters and they shared a video on Twitter depicting the brilliant six-hitting qualities of Dewald Brevis. The important feature of the six was the ‘no look’ move from Brevis knowing that he has timed it really well and the MI Paltan was in awe of the attractive shot.

With the top three packed with star batters for the Mumbai Indians, it will be tough for Brevis to get into the playing XI in the first few games. Mumbai managed to bag the services of Tim David, and he is expected to perform finishing duties alongside Kieron Pollard.
