Zimbabwe, facing a daunting target of 235, struggled to build momentum as they lost wickets at regular intervals. Mukesh Kumar set the tone early by striking in his very first over, dismissing opener Innocent Kaia with a perfectly executed delivery. Kaia, who had been a key player in previous matches, found himself outplayed by Mukesh’s skilful bowling.

Mukesh Kumar continued his impressive performance by returning to the attack and removing Brian Bennett, who was beginning to look dangerous after scoring 26 runs.

Avesh Khan further compounded Zimbabwe’s woes by taking two crucial wickets in his first over. He dismissed Dion Myers for a duck and followed it up by removing the experienced skipper Sikandar Raza, who managed only 4 runs. These quick wickets left Zimbabwe in a precarious position, struggling to keep up with the required run rate.

Amidst this collapse, Dhruv Jurel’s moment of brilliance came in the 12th over. Wellington Masakadza, who had narrowly survived a close call earlier in the over, was ultimately undone by Jurel’s sharp glovework. On the second delivery of the over, Jurel executed a swift and precise stumping that mirrored the legendary skills of MS Dhoni, sending Masakadza back to the pavilion.

Jurel’s wicketkeeping not only highlighted his potential as a future star but also added to the pressure on the Zimbabwean batting lineup. His performance, coupled with the disciplined bowling from Mukesh Kumar and Avesh Khan, ensured that India maintained a firm grip on the match, celebrating a dominant display on Dhoni’s special day.
