Shimron Hetmyer’s quick reflexes and sense of humor were on full display during the Rajasthan Royals’ IPL 2025 match against the Kolkata Knight Riders. The West Indies power-hitter found himself in a tricky and rather amusing situation while at the non-striker’s end in the 18th over. With Spencer Johnson steaming in, Dhruv Jurel connected with a fierce drive straight down the ground.

Unfortunately for Shimron Hetmyer, the ball was rocketing towards him at a blistering pace. Despite his best efforts to dodge it, the ball struck his pad, narrowly avoiding a more painful blow. The impact caused Hetmyer to lose his balance, tumbling awkwardly to the ground. Sensing an opportunity, Johnson quickly collected the ball and tried to run out of Hetmyer, who was still scrambling to regain his footing.

In a frantic yet comedic attempt, Shimron Hetmyer managed to dive back into the crease, barely grounding his bat before losing balance again and sprawling onto the pitch. As the cameras zoomed in, Hetmyer could be seen laughing at the chaotic turn of events, clearly relieved to have escaped unscathed.

Rajasthan Royals ended their innings at 151/9 after being invited to bat first by KKR skipper Ajinkya Rahane. Despite a series of setbacks, including losing wickets at regular intervals, the Royals managed to cross the 150-run mark. Dhruv Jurel once again anchored the innings with a steady 33 off 28 balls, supported by a late cameo from Jofra Archer, who smashed a quick 16.

KKR’s spin duo of Moeen Ali and Varun Chakaravarthy were instrumental in tying down the Royals’ batting order. Both spinners bagged two wickets each while maintaining an economy of under six runs per over, making it difficult for RR to gain any momentum.
As the game progresses, Rajasthan will hope their bowlers can replicate KKR’s disciplined performance, while KKR looks to chase down the target with confidence.
