Committee of Administrators (CoA) member, Diana Edulji recently acknowledged that she was also one of the few people who were against the appointment of Ravi Shastri as the head coach of India.
Recently, CAB President Sourav Ganguly’s letter to BCCI over the functioning of CoA has created a buzz in the country. Apart from expressing fears over the future of cricket administration in India, Dada also mentioned that the process to select Team India’s head coach was, “dreadful.”
Furthermore, Ganguly was part of the three-man Cricket Advisory Committee to select the head coach after the sudden exit of Anil Kumble last year. On Thursday, Diana Edulji said that she wants Ganguly to know that she too did not support the appointment of Shastri. She cited that the deadline to apply for the post had lapsed.
In response to Sourav Ganguly’s view on CoA, Dian Edulji stated that just because Vinod Rai and she haven’t agreed on one point, the two members are on different roads. She explained, “Just because we (Vinod Rai and she) disagreed on a point, it does not mean we are divided. We are working together and I think people have misunderstood this.”
However, Amitabh Chaudhary, the acting secretary of the BCCI completely spoken in the favor of Ganguly stating that he is happy that finally, someone is speaking. He also admitted that the popularity of cricket has gone down due to the administration.
Chaudhary elaborated, “I am on the same page as Dada. I believe that the popularity of cricket here has gone down because of administration. I fully support Dada and I’ve been trying to say the same thing for the last six months. I am happy that Ganguly has said a few things about the CoA.”
