The 13th match of IPL 2025 between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) at Ekana Stadium turned out to be a fiery contest, filled with intense moments. After Yuzvendra Chahal’s aggressive send-off to Nicholas Pooran in the first innings, young LSG spinner Digvesh Singh Rathi grabbed the spotlight with his own bold celebration after dismissing Priyansh Arya.

Chasing a target of 172, Punjab Kings got off to a steady start with openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya looking to build a solid foundation. However, in the third over, Rathi made an impact, removing Arya for just eight runs with a deceptive googly. The delivery, quick and short outside off-stump, forced Arya into an awkward pull shot. The mistimed hit ballooned toward extra cover, where Shardul Thakur sprinted in from mid-on to take a sharp running catch.

What followed was an eye-catching celebration. Rathi walked up to Arya and made a dramatic writing gesture on his palm, reminiscent of West Indies pacer Kesrick Williams’ famous “notebook celebration.” Even Sunil Gavaskar, on commentary, drew comparisons to Virat Kohli, recalling similar aggressive reactions from the former Indian captain.

At the time of writing, LSG were 116-2 in 11 overs, well on track in their chase. The first innings saw momentum shifts at crucial junctures. Pooran provided a brief boost with his aggressive batting before Chahal had the last laugh, and Abdul Samad’s late flurry gave LSG a fighting total. However, PBKS bowlers controlled most of the innings, restricting the hosts to a slightly below-par score.

Arshdeep Singh set the tone early, dismissing Mitchell Marsh in the first over. Lockie Ferguson followed up by removing Aiden Markram, while Glenn Maxwell sent Rishabh Pant back cheaply. The defining moment came when Chahal outfoxed Pooran, cutting LSG’s potential total by at least 15-20 runs.
