Indian team management’s decision to include the young leggie Kuldeep Yadav in the second Test of the 5-match series against England at Lord’s was wrong as it became evident after what transpired in the game later on. The chinaman wasn’t looking impactful at all as he only got to bowl nine overs in the innings in which the other bowlers bowled around 80 overs. However, former India spinner Dilip Doshi reckons that Kuldeep’s talent is still raw in the longest format and it should not be rushed.

Kuldeep Yadav

Kuldeep made his Test debut in the series decider game against Australia last year in Dharamsala and ran through their middle order with his spell. Also, ahead of the ongoing Test series, most the of cricketing pundits have adviced the inclusion of Kuldeep in the XI as he bamboozled England batsmen in the ODIs and T20Is. Unfortunately, he played the wrong game and might not feature in the playing XI for the rest of the series.

Dilip Doshi, while speaking to the Times of India, felt that Yadav is too raw to play the longest format of the game and his bowling deficiencies are getting exposed. Having played 33 Test matches for India, Doshi also pointed out a few technical problems in Kuldeep’s bowling.

Doshi explained, “He is a young kid who is learning, still too raw for Test cricket. He is very slow in the air because his non-bowling arm falls apart very early in his delivery stride. It’s fine in T20s and ODIs where you only bowl four or 10 overs. But your deficiencies get exposed in Test cricket.”

Kuldeep yet to make his mark in the longest format

However, Dilip wanted to Ravindra Jadeja to be included in the fourth Test as he said, “He is quite good you see, he bowls steady and straight and with the DRS there, you get a lot more LBWs. I would love to see him play the next Test match.”
