Former Indian cricketer turned commentator Dinesh Karthik said that Vaibhav Suryavanshi will have to continue his patient wait on the bench, but backed the likes of Prince Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy to come into the playing XI for the
second T20I against West Indies as well. India took a 1-0 lead in the five-match series after an eight-wicket win in Lucknow, and head to Ranchi for the next contest on Friday, October 9 as well.

“I have heard that they want to try out as many players as possible, so that brings in the likes of Prince Yadav and Nitish Kumar Reddy into the playing XI. Vaibhav Suryavanshi is an interesting one, because he is a world champion batter, even though he is not proven at this level, nobody is going to stop him. He will be hungry sitting outside, at that age, you are hungry, that’s fair. But I don’t see how he can fit in unless Sanju Samson makes way, which I think is unfair at the moment,” Dinesh Karthik said on Cricbuzz.

Meanwhile, former India batter Ajinkya Rahane also agrees that Vaibhav Suryavanshi needs to be on the bench for the time being and his inclusion in the playing XI should not be rushed, as it can backfire.

“I feel this is going to be an important series for Sanju Samson, the next 3-4 T20Is. If he does well, it’s good. If he does not, then there are already talks about Suryavanshi getting a game. There is pressure mounting on Sanju Samson unnecessarily, but that is how it goes in T20s. Suryavanshi brings his skill set, but there are various other factors involved,” Ajinkya Rahane added.
