In the current scenario, Team India can field two sets of teams at the same time. Recently when the Test squad was in England, Hardik Pandya was leading the T20I squad that took on Ireland. Even last year, when the Test team was preparing for England, Shikhar Dhawan and company were in Sri Lanka for a bilateral series. So, it can be easily concluded that there are at least 25 cricketers who are ready to serve the nation at one time.

With that, the question of competition comes up. Ever since IPL came to the fore, competitiveness among players has been a topic to discuss. Even though there’s a lot of competition, the veteran Indian wicket-keeper, Dinesh Karthik is enjoying his time in the middle and is making a difference.

While speaking to the press before the 4th T20I, Dinesh Karthik addressed how competitive the Indian team has been. He said, “Right now in the Indian team, we have the potential to put out two teams or maybe even three teams in terms of the number of players available. I don’t think many countries can boast of that.”

It’s impossible to do what Karthik has been managing to achieve without proper support from the coach and the captain. At 37 years of age, he can’t be considered a future cricketer but is still being backed by the management. For the support that helped Karthik to play a fearless brand of cricket, he came up to thank the management for believing in him and also showed his gratitude to skipper Rohit Sharma.

Thanking the team management, Dinesh Karthik said, “Extremely happy (with the backing). This is what I have aimed for all my life. And for the captain and coach to show so much belief in me, it is only fair that I repay the faith back by giving good performances, which will help the team, in many ways, cross the line.”
