Under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya, Team India registered a dominating win by 168 runs over New Zealand in the decider of the three-match T20I series. After a tightly fought first couple of games, the men in blue amassed a huge total of 234 runs and won the game by a mammoth margin in Ahmedabad on 1 February, Wednesday. The victory was led by Shubman Gill’s stunning century, and then later from the Indian pace contingent that bundled up New Zealand’s batting order for just 66 runs.

Reacting to the series win, the veteran wicket-keeper batter, Dinesh Karthik lauded Team India for their effort and said that India gave New Zealand a tenfold back after the visitors handed the hosts a smashing defeat at Ranchi in the first T20I.

During a chat on Cricbuzz, Dinesh Karthik said, “India gave New Zealand a taste of their own medicine because in the first T20I, they took three wickets in the powerplay and literally broke our back. We gave them tenfold there. Not only the margin by which they won, but just the kind of catches they took, they put on a show out there.”

Stating that not a lot of things can get better than the third T20I win, Dinesh Karthik said that it was a ruthless performance.

Praising the all-around performance from Team India, Dinesh Karthik said, “The batting scorecard was probably the best batting scorecard into how a team should play in a T20. The bowling scorecard, I think, just doesn’t get any better, getting a team all out for 66. The fact that they held on to some phenomenal catches, especially Suryakumar Yadav, who held on to some blinders.”

Karthik concluded by saying that nobody could have asked for a more complete performance under pressure and that it was a stunning win from the team.

Dinesh Karthik concluded by saying, “I don’t think Rahul Dravid and Hardik Pandya could have expected anything more from this team. A thoroughly brilliant performance.”
