Former Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Dinesh Karthik has been reprimanded for breaching the Code of Conduct of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Wednesday, the BCCI has said in a release. The wicketkeeper-batsman was found guilty during Qualifier 2 against Delhi Capitals (DC) in Sharjah as well where they won the game convincingly.
“Karthik admitted to the Level 1 offence 2.2 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction. For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding,” the official statement read.

However, the exact nature of the breach was not known yet but Dinesh Karthik was seen dislodging a stump out of frustration after he was dismissed during the much-anticipated game on Wednesday. Meanwhile, KKR has qualified for an IPL final after having a nerve-wracking 3-wicket win over Delhi Capitals. Rahul Tripathi smashed a six in the penultimate delivery after opener Venkatesh Iyer laid the winning foundation with a stunning half-century to take the match in the final over as well.
KKR had the upperhand when they were at 123 for 1 in 15.5 overs but from there on they suffered a massive batting collapse. They required 10 runs from the last two overs but Anrich Nortje dismissed KKR captain Eoin Morgan (0) with the final ball of the penultimate over, leaving KKR seven runs to score from the final over as well.

Veteran R Ashwin bowled the final over where he removed Shakib Al Hasan (0) and Sunil Narine (0) in the third and fourth balls before Tripathi hit the maximum in the fifth ball to help KKR reach the final as well. NOtably, KKR had won the title in 2012 and 2014 and this is going to be their third final appearance. They will face three-time IPL title winners Chennai Super Kings in the final in Dubai on Friday as well.
