Indian Cricket team coach Ravi Shastri has shared his work ethic and details on how he operates in the Indian team dressing room, the former World Cup winner also shares his relationship with current captain Virat Kohli and how he gives the skipper the space to do his things. Virat who took over the test captaincy after the sudden retirement of Mahendra Singh Dhoni in test cricket in 2014 was named as the Indian captain across all 3 formats back in 2016, Since then Virat Kohli has to lead the Indian team very well and is expected to reach great heights.

Speaking about his main profile and role with the Indian team,  Ravi Shastri says that he believes his main job is to help and assist the Indian players by keeping them motivated and prepare them to perform better. Shastri also comments on how he feels that the team captain is the boss of the ship and has to lead right from the front and how the current skipper, Virat Kohli is excelling at his position while setting the fields and play his style of cricket.

In an interview with Sky Sports Podcast, Indian team head coach Ravi Shastri said,  “The captain is the boss, I always believe that. The job of the coaching staff, as far as I’m concerned, is to prepare the guys in the best possible way to be able to go out there and play brave, positive, fearless cricket.”

The Indian coach added, “The captain leads from the front. Yes, we are there to take off the burden but you leave him to do his job in the middle. The captain sets the tone and is encouraged to set the tone. In the middle, he controls the show.”

From being a brash careless kid in the earlier days of his cricketing career, Virat Kohli and come quite far, The 31-year-old player from Delhi has progressed very well with each passing year and has made himself more disciplined in life. Virat’s discipline towards his game and fitness has brought outstanding results for the player. It has also had a rub-on effect on the players of the Indian cricket team with players now willing to train harder and improve themselves.

The Indian team head coach has also applauded the India skipper’s dedication to fitness and his eagerness to lead the team from the front. The 1983 World Cup winner said that Kohli is not a guy to be taken lightly and messed around with. “When you talk about fitness, the leadership came from the top and that is Virat. He is not a guy to mess around.”

Virat Kohli has been a very good successor to Mahendra Singh Dhoni and has flourished as the captain of the Indian team across all the three formats of the game.
