Former Indian fast-bowler Atul Wassan shared his thoughts over Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja, who has been discarded from India’s One-Day International squad. Wassan feels there is no chance for both of these spinners to make a comeback in the squad for World Cup 2019 in England.

“Well people might say diplomatically they have a chance, but I don’t see any chance unless one of Kuldeep or Chahal gets injured,” quoted IANS on behalf of Wassan.

Kohli has been in favor of two wrist spinners in the limited-over cricket, who provides a lot of variations and balance to the skipper. Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav have been pretty impressive so far thrashed South Africa’s batting line-up in South Africa.

Wassan further gave credit to Kohli for such a welcoming change and said “The credit should go to the team management and Virat for backing India’s core strength, spin bowling in alien conditions. And here we have two wrist spinners who have delivered pretty well. I think the management should now let these two play 50-60 games in different conditions before taking them to the World Cup. They have a big heart and aren’t afraid to flight the ball despite being belted for runs in the fourth game.”

Whether any one of these both can introduce in Test, he thinks “In hindsight, they could have included one of the mystery spinners.”One year back, no one would have thought Ashwin and Jadeja would have to fight for their place but that’s a healthy competition to have.”

Wassan was here to inaugurate the Sudama Premier League, which kicked off with an exhibition match between the organizers and the Delhi Sports Journalists Association (DSJA). The tournament, comprising of 16 teams, aims at encouraging talent from the financially backward classes of the society by a non-profit organization Prasar, (People’s Right and Social Research Centre).
