Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah and young off-spinner Washington Sundar have been ruled out from the upcoming three-match T20I series against the hosts England, starting from July 3.
After completion of the two-match T20I series against the hosts Ireland, where India thrashed them in style and won the series by the 0-2 margin, they are heading to England for playing three-match T20I series, three-match ODI series and five-match Test series against them.
However, ahead of the T20I series, Indian squad hit with the two injuries as Bumrah and Sundar will miss the entire T20I series.

The 24-year-old right-arm pacer Bumrah, who missed the second T20I in the Ireland series, got an injury on his left thumb during the first game of that series on Wednesday (June 27). While he tried to stop a ball on his run-up, it hit badly on his non-bowling hand. Bowling his full-over quota in that game, Bumrah had a bowling figure of 4-1-19-2.
Later, Bumrah had a scan on his injured hand and the results will be out soon.
While Bumrah will return home, his availability for the ODI series is still in serious doubt. However, the team management is expecting to get him fit before the five-match Test series, starting from August 1.
Talking about his injury, a source told TOI, “But he was very good in the Tests in South Africa as well and team management will hope that he gets fit in time for the Test series against England. It’s a big blow for India. Hope his replacement will do a good job of it,”

On the other hand, Sundar got an injury prior to the first T20I in Ireland series. A day before the first T20I, Sundar suffered a right-ankle injury when he was playing the football during the practice session. It hurt him hugely to miss the two-match T20I series in Ireland before missing out the next three T20I matches in England.
While the left-arm spinner Axar Patel is expecting to replace Sundar, pacer Shardul Thakur or Deepak Chahar can replace Bumrah for the upcoming T20I series.
Meanwhile, recently, England pacer Tom Curran has been ruled out from the first T20I due to a side-strain injury while the left-handed batsman Dawid Malan has replaced him.
