For someone to miss a game of cricket due to poor form and subsequently being dropped is acceptable. For someone to miss a game of cricket due to an injury is also acceptable. For someone to miss a game of cricket after being rested is also acceptable. But for someone to miss a game of cricket due to temporary loss of a cricket kit is way beyond imagination. Like seriously?
A reason which is as weird as it sounds was the real reason behind Aaron Finch not being included into Gujarat Lions’ playing eleven for today’s encounter against Mumbai Indians. Suresh Raina broke the news during the toss. He said, “Unfortunately Finchy misses out today because he’s lost his kit bag. It did not arrive on time.”
Finch made an unbeaten 33 off 19 balls with the help of three fours and two sixes in Lions’ win over Rising Pune Supergiant in the last match. To lose a batsman when he has performed well in the previous match is not advised for any franchise.
