DRS Drama Over LBW Decision Of Suryakumar Yadav Creates A Stir On Social Media

During the third ODI between India and Sri Lanka, a DRS review taken by the Indian batsman, Suryakumar Yadav resulted in a comedy of errors that left a lot of fans on social media confused. He was initially given out by the on-field umpire, Kumar Dharmasena but was reversed after a long review.

India’s stand-in skipper, Shikhar Dhawan won the toss in the final ODI and chose to bat first. They were off to a brisk start before losing the captain in the third over. A partnership followed between debutant Sanju Samson and Prithvi Shaw which saw India cross the 100-run mark in teh 15th over itself. While being just one run short of his fifty, Shaw was adjudged LBW and had to walk back.

Samson followed suit soon and left India was found reeling at 118/3. In-form batsman Suryakumar Yadav walked out and looked at his fluent best once again. He was scoring at a brisk pace before a hilarious incident occurred. Suryakumar tried to sweep a good length delivery but missed. Umpire Kumar Dharmasena gave him LBW, which was reviewed by the Mumbaikar.

The third-umpire moved on to ball-tracking after concluding that there was no inside edge. and after a huge delay, ball-tracking came in and the impact was determined to be outside off (and 2.5m ahead of the stumps). The third umpire, however, still went for complete ball tracking and the ball was hitting the stumps despite the fact that the ball was turning away in the real-time camera, which sparked wild celebrations in the Sri Lankan camp.

The third-umpire then changed his mind and asked his on-field partner to reverse his decision and give not out since the impact was outside off. Dharmasena was then asked to change his decision and Suryakumar Yadav survived which triggered hilarious reactions on social media. Here are some of the reactions on Twitter:
