The Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) board has recently confirmed that both Wanindu Hasaranga and Dusmantha Chameera will feature in phase 2 of the Indian Premier League. They have informed through a press release that they have given the NOC to participate in the league as well.
Notably, Royal Challengers Bangalore have picked both of them. However, they both are key players of the Sri Lankan team. With the upcoming series against South Africa and the T20 World Cup later this year, their participation was under the scanner. But SLC has given them permission after a meeting with the Technical Advisory Committee.
The official press reads, “The ‘No Objection Certificate’ to the duo (Hasaranga and Chameera) was issued for them to join the IPL teams starting from 15th September (following the completion of the South Africa Tour of Sri Lanka).”

However, the press release also mentioned that both of them have been given the NOC to play in the second phase of the IPL and they will return to join the national team on 10th October for the warm-up matches before the T20 World Cup as well, “The two players will join the Sri Lanka squad on 10th October 2021 to play in the two warm-up games prior to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers.”
As a result, the RCB team won’t get the service of them for the playoffs if they manage to reach there as well as they will only be available for the league stages of the league. Notably, the playoffs are slated to start from 10th October. However, Wanindu Hasaranga and Dusmantha Chameera came in as a replacement for Adam Zampa and Daniel Sams after performing well against India in the T20I series played in July.
