After a historic Test series victory over Pakistan, Bangladesh is now preparing for their next red-ball challenge against India. This marks the first time Bangladesh has defeated Pakistan in Test cricket, and skipper Najmul Hossain Shanto is confident that the team will carry this momentum into their upcoming series against India.
One of the key players Bangladesh missed during the Pakistan series was pacer Ebadot Hossain. The 30-year-old fast bowler has been sidelined since July 2023 due to an injury sustained in a collision with an umpire during Bangladesh’s home series against Afghanistan.
The incident led to a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury, and Ebadot has been out of action for over a year. However, he is hopeful of joining the squad for the India tour, even if just to monitor his recovery progress.

“It takes a long time to recover from the kind of injury I had. It’s been a difficult time, but I don’t think it will take too long now. I will play and try to do well,” Ebadot Hossain said, as quoted by The Daily Star.

He added that while he’s still not bowling at full intensity, he is gradually ramping up his efforts, reaching about 70 to 80 per cent of his capacity. Ebadot also mentioned that the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) might take him to India for further monitoring and fitness assessments.

“Maybe they will take me to India to get support for my bowling. The doctors and physios will be there, and they will be monitoring me. My fitness test will take place there, and then they will make a decision,” he explained.
However, BCB sources indicate that no final decision has been made yet regarding Ebadot’s inclusion in the squad. Bangladesh’s two-match Test series against India is set to begin on September 19 in Chennai.
