The new 100-ball cricket can observe the 12-a-side team instead of the traditional 11-a-side team. After planning the innovating shorter format of cricket, the England & Wales Cricket Board (ECB) is now thinking to make the team 12-a-side.
However, under this method, still, 11 players will get the permission to bat or field. It means, one player can be the specialist batsman and another can be the specialist bowler or fielder who will feature and replace each other according to their situation.

It is likely the same concept of ICC’s introducing ‘Super-sub’ in ODI formats in 2005. With the ‘Super-sub’ method, each team can replace one player during a match. However, later in 2006, after 10-month of its introduction, ICC dropped that system as it didn’t gain popularity.
At the time of dropping out of that system, then ICC president Malcolm Speed said, “From the feedback we have received from captains and former players it was apparent we should not continue with it.”

Since their proposal of 100-ball cricket, ECB has come out with some special and innovative ideas to make the tournament very entertaining.
According to their first proposal, there will be 15 traditional six-ball overs and one 10-ball over in each innings. But, recently ECB has the second though as they want to make 20 five-ball overs in each innings. Moreover, in the new proposal, there will be the option for the captains where they can use the bowlers for two consecutive overs.

According to the present situation, the 100-ball cricket tournament is expected to begin in July 2020. In a five-week long competition during the first season, eight teams will participate and 36 matches will be played in 38 days. The final of the tournament is expected to be played at the end of August.
