Ed Sheeran had a few big-ticket guests for the opening night of his much-hyped India tour in Pune on January 30. The Grammy-winning singer opened his concert at Yash Lawn to the England cricket team, making it an unforgettable evening for Jos Buttler and his side before the pivotal fourth T20I against India.

With the match planned for January 31 at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, the English cricketers took some break from their stringent series preparations with the soulful melodies of Sheeran in a concert electrifying night out with Sheeran, and it was iconic hits galore.
Before the show, the England team had an exclusive backstage meet-and-greet with Ed Sheeran. The camaraderie between these two British icons was on full display in the friendly exchange: Sheeran was gifted an England cricket jersey signed by all the players; he, in turn, gave Jos Buttler a signed Ipswich Town football jersey.

A football enthusiast, Sheeran is a minority shareholder in the English club and is one of their sponsors. The England Cricket team later posted pictures of the fun-filled meeting on X (formerly Twitter), captioning it as “A ‘Perfect’ evening! “

Jos Buttler also uploaded highlights from the night on Instagram, including an image of him with Sheeran and his exchanged jerseys. Another captured him in his element, strumming his guitar under dazzling stage lights. “A pleasure to meet you, Ed Sheeran, and watch you perform. Incredible talent! Got myself a new football team to support,” Jos Buttler captioned.

As England were basking in their musical break, they still did not let go of their concentration on the game against India. They were beaten in the first two T20Is, but they rebounded in the third match with a thumping win at Rajkot. Buttler has been in scintillating form throughout the series, scoring 137 runs in three games at a blistering strike rate of over 140.
