Exactly eight years ago, former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman in the limited-overs format, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, scored his fourth ODI hundred against Australia at Nagpur.

Ricky Ponting, the then Australian captain, had won the toss and elected to field in the second ODI of the seven-match series. Australia and Peter Siddle drew first blood as India lost Sachin Tendulkar (4) in the fourth over. When Yuvraj Singh (23) fell against Ben Hilfenhaus in the 16th over (3-97), Dhoni came in to bat, ahead of Suresh Raina.

He shared a 119-run partnership for the fourth wicket with Gautam Gambhir (76). Raina replaced Gambhir and did not waste much time before pressing the accelerator. Dhoni and Raina shared a 136-run stand for the fifth wicket. Dhoni ended up scoring 124 (107) with the help of nine fours & three sixes.

Raina scored a quickfire 62 (50) with the help of six fours and a six. Both Dhoni and Raina were dismissed in the ultimate of the innings by Mitchell Johnson. India scored 354-7 in 50 overs and won the match by 99 runs as the visitors were bundled out for 255 in 48.3 overs. Dhoni was adjourned the ‘Man of the Match’ for the 12th time in his ODI career.
