Former India opener turned veteran commentator Aakash Chopra has applauded Vaibhav Suryavanshi for scoring a stunning century in the Under-19 World Cup 2026 final. He also added that the Bihar youngster batted England out of the game virtually single-handedly as he smashed 175 runs off 80 balls as India set England a mammoth 412-run target in Harare and then bundled the opponent out for 311 to register a 100-run win.

In a video shared on his YouTube channel, ‘Aakash Chopra,’ he said, “India’s future has smiled for the sixth time. These kids’ dreams have written their names on this trophy. Vaibhav Suryavanshi hits only sixes and hits a lot. Ek Bihari sab par bhaari, Vaibhav Suryavanshi showed that by doing it. This young tornado is a hurricane. He scored 175 runs in just 80 balls. He is an unbelievable guy.”

“The under-19 team won the toss and batted, and then how do they do this? Vaibhav is a 14-year-old kid. What were you doing at the age of 14? I am sure you would have been chilling and would be thinking about what you would do, but this guy is making world records,” he again shared.

However, Aakash Chopra also said that Vaibhav Suryavanshi had contributed nearly 70 percent of India’s total score as well.
“He hit 15 sixes and 15 fours. He was hitting huge sixes while standing in his position. He scored 175 runs and got out in the 26th over. India’s score was 250 (251). One guy alone scored 175 out of 250. It is unbelievable. Of course, Ayush Mhatre scored runs and Kanishk Chouhan scored runs later, Vedant Trivedi, Vihaan Malhotra and everyone contributed a little, took the team to 411, and I am thinking what brand of cricket is the Indian team playing? 411 runs in 50 overs, that too in a World Cup final,” Aakash Chopra concluded.
