Veteran Australia all-rounder Ellyse Perry has backed herself to play in the 2028 Olympic Games. Perry, who won gold with Australia at the 2022 Commonwealth Games, is hopeful to play as cricket will debut at the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics after a 128-year as well. The veteran also said that she is yet to plan her international retirement but believes she will be around for the Olympics as well.

Perry, who is leading Birmingham Phoenix at The Hundred, told the BBC: “I don’t think I’m the kind of person that wants to pin a date on a retirement. I’ve never looked at it like that. If I’m still there and available and good enough, I’d like to be there. I haven’t set a target on playing at the Olympics, but if I’m still around and good enough, I’d absolutely love to be there.”

However, Ellyse Perry didn’t have a great start to The Hundred as she departed for a duck against Oval Invincibles but scored 65 off 48 with the help of one six and eight boundaries against London Spirit as well. She has won several trophies in women’s T20 leagues, including the Big Bash League (Sydney Sixers) and Women’s Premier League (Royal Challengers Bengaluru) so far. Moreover, she has several World Cup trophies with Australia. Ellyse Perry is hopeful to turn around Birmingham Phoenix’s fortunes in The Hundred after her side lost the first two games as well.

“We still have an awesome opportunity to go out there, do everything we can to play entertaining and exciting cricket,” Ellyse Perry stated. “There’s a really nice feeling, not just amongst our group but the whole competition. It’s been a really successful one for the English cricket landscape.”
