The Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) has suspended their three international cricketers for eight weeks for breaching the Player’s Code of Conduct during the recently concluded Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Emerging Teams Asia Cup.
Through their respective social media accounts, the UAE captain Rohan Mustafa, left-arm spinner Ahmed Raza and the top-order batsman Rameez Shahzad were openly critical about the poor facilities of the Southend Club Cricket Stadium (Karachi).

It was their very crucial final group stage game of the tournament against Hong Kong where UAE had to win that game to qualify for the semi-final. However, that game was interrupted in the rain after Hong Kong was battling on 87/4 (31 overs) and later, it was washed out while both teams earned only point from that game. In result, UAE was eliminated from the group stage.

After that game, skipper Mustafa tweeted, “I am really sorry to say but we are out because of poor facility at the ground,”
Left-arm spinner Raza wrote on his Twitter account, “club-level covers at the so called ‘Test’ venue”.
Also, the top-order batsman Rameez posted, “Never mind the security but there are more reasons to why international cricket has overlooked this part of the world when it comes to international cricket.”

Though all of them deleted their respective posts at later and also apologised for this, their national board has decided to suspend them from cricket for eight weeks. In addition, they have been fined and also warned about their future conduct.
According to ECB media release, it started, “Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) confirmed it has completed a disciplinary investigation relating to an alleged violation of its Player’s Code of Conduct, and use of Social Media following a recent incident during the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) Emerging Teams Asia Cup.
“ECB concluded that 3 players; Rohan Mustafa, Ahmed Raza and Rameez Shahzad, had violated its Code of Conduct and requirements for the use of Social Media. As a result, each of the players have been suspended from International Cricket for a period of 8 weeks, fined and warned about their future conduct.”
