The second Test of the 5-match series between India and England is scheduled to be commencing on Thursday at Lord’s in London. The hosts barely managed to escape with a draw in the opening game after being pushed to a dangerous position by a dominant performance from the Indians, thanks to the rain gods. Although Joe Root and will now be looking to take a lead in the series, while Team India will be heading into the game favorites.

Rain played spoilsport for Virat Kohli-led India, who were eyeing to commence the much-awaited series on a high at Trent Bridge. Now, it is time for the second Test, and all this while it may have seemed that India does not need to tinker or make changes to their XI – but now, they have to make a forced change.

The Indian fast bowling all-rounder, Shardul Thakur has suffered an injury on his hamstring ahead of the 2nd Test while he was practicing with the squad. Even for England, their veteran pacer, Stuart Broad seems to have injured himself and he is likely to miss the second Test.

It looks like Kohli and Co may pick veteran Ravichandran Ashwin for the Lord’s Test as he can be a valuable asset in the English conditions. The rest of the side remains the same. KL Rahul, who grabbed his chance at the top will open with Rohit Sharma. The solid middle-order will be followed by Rishabh Pant and then the two spinning all-rounders in Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin. Mohammed Siraj, Mohammed Shami, Jasprit Bumrah would be the three pacers for India.

They have called up Moeen Ali for the Lord’s Test and Haseeb Hameed will be expected to feature in the playing11. Stuart Broad has twisted his right ankle during the net session and will undergo a scan and he will be likely to be replaced by Mark Wood. James Anderson is also doubtful for the fixture.
