The stylish England batsman Alex Hales will be missing the first One-Day International against India on Thursday because of a side injury. The 29-year-old Nottinghamshire player, who will be monitored on a match-by-match basis and because of the same reason he has been replaced in the squad by Middlesex batsman David Malan.
Hales averaged 48 in the recently concluded T20I series against India England lost their Twenty20 series against India 2-1. The three-match ODI series starts at Trent Bridge on Thursday, with the second game taking place at Lords on Saturday.
After winning the three-match T20I series by the 1-2 margin, visiting team India will now face the three-match ODI series challenge against the hosts England.

It is the fight between the two top-ranked teams. In the latest ICC ODI ranking, England is on the top with 126 rating points while India is in the next position (second position) with 122 rating points. So, it is hard to choose the favorite team for the short ODI series.
The hosts England is currently in a very good form in the ODI format. Apart from suffering a stunning defeat against Scotland, England has performed very well in both as a host nation or as a visitor. In their last 10 games, England won eight matches and lost only twice.
