The flamboyant English opener Jason Roy will have to undergo a fitness test ahead of the third and the final One-Day International against India in order to feature in the series decider at Headingley. If Roy fails the test, then Hampshire captain James Vince could be in line for his first ODI appearance after a gap of almost two years, although on Monday, teh Engish team management decided to call-up Kent’s Sam Billings as additional batting cover for the series finale in Leeds.
Roy suffered a tear to the little finger of his right hand while fielding during England’s 86-run victory over India at Lord’s on Saturday and a team spokesman said: “He remains a doubt for tomorrow (Tuesday) and will have a fitness test in the morning at the ground to ascertain whether he’ll be fit to play.”
Vince last played an ODI match for England during the tour of Bangladesh in October 2016.

Opener Alex Hales has already been missing the three-match ODI series against India with a side strain while Dawid Malan, his replacement, has also been released to take part in the second-string England Lions’ four-day match with India A. However, the English skipper Eoin Morgan is hardly interested to make any changes for the Tuesday’s ODI, if Roy passes the test.
As the series is currently level by the 1-1 margin, the final match will be the series decider which is a day/night encounter.
