Indian left-arm chinaman bowler Kuldeep Yadav destroyed the English batting line-up in the first ODI of the three-match ODI series at Trent Bridge (Nottingham) on Thursday (July 12).
The 23-year-old Indian spinner performed exceptionally well as he had a bowling figure of 10-0-25-6. His effort hugely helped the Indian team to bowl out the hosts for 268 runs in 49.5 overs.
After getting to bat first as the Indian skipper Virat Kohli won the toss and decided to field first, England had a good opening start. Openers Jason Roy and Jonny Bairstow provided a powerful 73-run opening partnership, before Kuldeep’s show began. The scorecard suddenly went down to 105/4 from 73/0.
While the next English batsmen provided some important partnerships, Kuldeep’s show continued to end their hard fight. With his dominating bowling skills, Kuldeep dismissed both the openers Roy (38) and Bairstow (38), Joe Root (3), Ben Stokes (50), Jos Buttler (53) and David Willey (1).
While Kuldeep produced a total of 38 dot deliveries, he neither conceded a boundary nor an extra.
Apart from Kuldeep, only Umesh Yadav (2/70) and Yuzvendra Chahal (1/51) were the other Indian bowlers to pick up at least one wicket in that innings.

A solid , formidable batsman like Joe Root not able to pick and read @imkuldeep18 on two occasions now . All the more reason for India to start playing Kuldeep Yadav consistently in Test Cricket. Will make life difficult for English batsmen #ENGvIND

Kuldeep Yadav is bowling in a script England's batsmen haven't learnt.

Kuldeep now has 6. Any doubts still that he will be in the longest format squad too?

Curiously, Kuldeep actually means "Kryptonite" in Hindi

Someone – sorry, I can’t remember who – once tweeted they were singing “Kuldeep is Yadav” to the tune of The Bee Gees’ ‘How Deep is Your Love?’ It is on loop in my brain. #ENGvIND

Kuldeep Yadav bowled 10 overs without conceding a boundary at a venue where the last two totals by England were 481 and 444. What a bowler. #EngvInd
