There haven’t been a lot of ocassions when the cricketers have hogged the limelight for the wrong reasons, but there have been a few incidents when some players did something which was uncalled for. When a batsman scores a century or when a bowler takes a fifer, they witness praises all across drew praises from every nook and corner of the cricket fraternity. On the dark side, that’s not the same case with other cricketers.
Some cricketers have pulled off an act of self tarnished their reputation. We have seen cricketers involved in infamous spot-fixing allegations. On the other hand, some cricketers were seen getting involved in scandals and recently, an English cricketer garnered some limelight for the wrong reason. He was arrested for sending inappropriate messages to minor girls.
The 29-year-old English club cricketer, David Hymers did something against moral values, bu harassing minor girld. While David Hymers was training on the field at Tynemouth Cricket Club in Northumberland, he was approached by a group of paedophile hunters who notified him that the cops were on their way.
According to the reports of The Mirror, a group identified as ‘Guardians of the North’ created fake profiles of underage girls on social media in an attempt to catch Hymers in the act. The report says that the English club cricketer was well aware that they were schoolgirls, still he had no hesitation in sending explicit messages to them using the same chat-up line.
The club cricketer has been doing such disgraceful activities since 2020 and he was arrested after posting on his social media handle about a game he was going to take part in. The report adds that Hymers sent pics of his private body parts during the conversation with the imposter. The latter tricked him into believing he was conversing with an underage girl.
Meanwhile, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has suspended the club cricketer from all cricketing activities overseen by the board. He was ordered by the Newcastle Crown Court to a community order for up to 3 years with sex offender programme requirements.
