England’s limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan is satisfied with team’s growing performances in recent cricket. In the ongoing India tour of England, after losing the three-match T20I series by 1-2, England made a comeback in the three-match ODI series and won by the 2-1 margin.
In the third ODI at Leeds on Tuesday, England captain won the toss decided to field first. The bowlers did the good job as they restricted Indian team to 256/8 (50 overs). The hero of the match leg-spinner Adil Rashid bowled superbly as he had a figure of 10-0-49-3, while the new balls pacers Mark Wood (1/30) and David Willey (3/40) started very well and set the platform for the other bowlers.

Praising about the bowlers’ efforts, Morgan said, “I think we were outstanding. Tone was set by the bowlers early on. David Willey (3/40) and Mark Wood (1/30) were on the money. For about three or four overs it swung around but apart from that they hit their lines and their lengths really well.
“From that point, there was no let up, we managed to get little (bowling) partnerships going at different stages and had really good chances taken when opportunities did arise. We know the conditions here really well so we were able to take advantage of that.”

Further, Morgan praised the spinners and also credited the good opening start in their innings that followed by the giant unbroken partnership between him and Joe Root.
Talking about that, Morgan said, “I thought our spinners were brilliant and the chase was set up by the two openers [James Vince (27) and Jonny Bairstow (30)] and then myself and Joe were able to get going.”

Morgan credited to the team effort that ultimately made his decisions successful on the field.
He said, “It’s the guys who make my decisions look good. At Lord’s, winning the toss and batting only looks good if we play well.
“Like any other captain around the country or the world, you’re only as good as your team. I thought we got better as the series went on, at Trent Bridge (first ODI), we were off the mark and India punished us. From there we’ve learnt and grown as much as we can.”
