Lucknow Super Giants posted a massive total of 257 runs, the second-highest total in the Indian Premier League history while playing against Punjab Kings at Mohali on Friday, 28 April. Barring KL Rahul, every single batter in the team stepped up as the team hit 14 sixes in total as well. And, former England captain Eoin Morgan applauded the batters after the match on JioCinema and he also said that it must not have been easy for the batters amidst the poor form of KL Rahul. Morgan referred to the LSG line-up as a powerful one and said that it was good to see everyone stepping up.

“Not easy at all, and for various reasons. KL hasn’t been at his very best with the bat but he would give up all the runs he’s scored through the tournament if Lucknow Super Giants go on to win. It’s good to see when one of your best players and leaders isn’t performing, other guys are stepping up. The likes of Kyle Mayers at the top of the order and the rest of the powerful lineup they have, Marcus Stoinis, Ayush Badoni, who’s been promoted up the order and doing an unbelievable job,” Eoin Morgan said on Jio Cinema.

However, Marcus Stoinis and Kyle Mayers led the way for LSG at Mohali scoring two quick fifties, which allowed young Ayush Badoni to score 43 off 24 balls. Nicholas Pooran hit 45 off 19 and take the team to a huge total against the Punjab Kings team.

“Whenever we talk about the Lucknow team, we know they have the balance. The openers are doing well, KL Rahul is scoring consistently. Yes, there is talk about his strike rate, but he has been consistent,” former India cricketer Parthiv Patel defended KL Rahul stating that the batter had been scoring runs.

Speaking on Jio Cinema during the same discussion, Parthiv Patel said: “When Ayush Badoni is batting, he does it in a floating role while performing. You have two proven finishers in Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran. They have bowlers, as we saw today, with nine bowlers bowling. Everyone can do something or the other. If Deepak Hooda can find some form, they’ll be a complete side at the top of the tournament.”
