New Zealand spearhead Tim Southee reveals that his team is excited rather than nervous ahead of playing the series decider match in Kanpur. Both teams are sharing an equal honor after first two matches and the final game will be played on October 29.
“No pressure, it’s more excitement I would say. There was an air of excitement around the guys today at training. Obviously, we feel freshened up after the day off yesterday. The series is on the line tomorrow,” said Southee.
Kiwi team can make history if they manage to win the third ODI match in Kanpur as they have never won an ODI bilateral series in India. In all their five previous attempts, they failed to solve this puzzle.
He added “That’s what we play for and like I said, good sides have come here and walked away empty handed. I guess it’ll be nice to seal the series here. But India is a tough team in their own conditions as they have shown that over a while.”
The right-arm pacer concluded while saying “The beauty of a series is as it goes on it’s the same for both teams. You get more information about the opposition batters and there’s information going out there as well. Obviously, it’s a different ground and it offers different challenges, so if we can adapt to that quickly and see what is working then we’ll go a long way in a good bowling performance.”
New Zealand shocked Indians with a comprehensive victory in Mumbai after a mammoth partnership between Ross Taylor and Tom Latham. However, Team India bounced back in the series and won the second game in Pune by six wickets. Thus, the pendulum of the series is hanging on an even keel and both teams will try their best to turn it in their favor.
