Former India captain and current wicket-keeper batsman, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, automatically becomes the centre of attraction before any limited-overs fixture involving India. Since his Test retirement in December 2015, fans get to watch him on limited occasions, which further puts weight on his name.

Chief selector of the Indian cricket team, MSK Prasad, has laid expectations on runs coming out of Dhoni’s bat in the future. On the other hand, Ravi Shashtri, the Head Coach of the team, has laid emphasis on fitness and considers it as the primary requirement for the future. In such times, it becomes very crucial for Dhoni to perform both as a batsman and a wicket-keeper to seal his spot for the ICC Cricket World cup 2019.

Citing the same thing in mind, Dhoni is running those extra miles and concentrating more on his batting in the nets. India are scheduled to take on Sri Lanka at Dambulla today.
