Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) registered a close 18-run win in a low-scoring affair against Lucknow Super Giants on May 1, Monday at the Ekana Stadium. RCB captain Faf du Plessis was relieved of the moments right after the match and said that the aggressive version of Virat Kohli is the best one.

On Monday evening, Kohli was pumped up through the match and he was controlling the crowd despite now being the home game, which was heavily in support of the Bengaluru franchise. Du Plessis said that it was great to see Kohli hyped up and he was at his best during RCB’s clash vs LSG.

“Aggression is the best version of Virat, isn’t it? To see him pumped up like that, that’s when he is at his very best. So it is really awesome to be a part of it and my job is to keep things calm on the field, which I thought that I did really well,” Faf chuckled during the interview.

Lucknow dished out one of its worst batting pitches in the IPL, where both teams struggled to play their shots. Faf spoke about the strategy and said the idea was to take on fast bowlers because they knew that scoring runs off spinners would be difficult in this game.

Explaining the same, Faf du Plessis said, “The plan was to take the seamers on because we felt that hitting spin would be really difficult. It was a tough wicket, so we had to adapt and that was the most important thing. We saw how much the ball was stopping and we tried to put our foot on the gas against seamers and then the spinners were just a case of knocking it around and trying and get a boundary now and then, but it was really tough work.”

The RCB captain, who returned to the playing XI on Monday scored 44 off 40 balls and clinched the player of the match award. He, alongside Virat Kohli, added 62 runs for the first wicket in the RCB innings which turned out to be a match-winning partnership.
