Texas Super Kings (TSK) captain Faf du Plessis showcased his exceptional athleticism with a stunning catch to dismiss MINY’s Tim David in the seventh match of the Major League Cricket (MLC) tournament. The highly anticipated clash between the two rival IPL franchises took place at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas. Both teams entered the game with one win and one loss in their opening matches.

In the final over, with MINY requiring 21 runs for victory, Tim David mistimed a full slower delivery from Daniel Sams. The ball appeared to be heading towards an empty space, but du Plessis had different plans. He sprinted in from the long-on boundary, dived forward, and completed a remarkable catch.

The catch effectively sealed the game for TSK, as they won by 17 runs, moving to the top of the points table with four points from three matches. This was du Plessis’ third catch of the innings, demonstrating his exceptional fitness and fielding skills even at the age of 39.

After leading TSK to victory, du Plessis spoke about his passion for fielding. While he missed out with the bat as TSK posted a modest total of 154/7, he praised his teammate Devon Conway, who scored a magnificent 74 off 55 deliveries. In response, MINY struggled and could only manage 137/8, falling short of the target by 18 runs due to TSK’s strong bowling and fielding performances. During the post-match presentation, du Plessis expressed his admiration for his fielding abilities and his partnership with former CSK teammate Dwayne Bravo.

“That’s me – I like fielding, the same with David Miller. We always go to the hotspots and make things happen. As for Bravo, we have played a lot of cricket together, and we think alike. I often bounce ideas off him. He says he now identifies himself as a 29-year-old,” du Plessis stated with a smile.

The 39-year-old also commended leg-spinner Mohammad Mohsin, who claimed two crucial wickets in the 14th over to turn the game around. Du Plessis praised Mohsin’s array of bowling variations, particularly his ability to target the front pad of the batsmen during the powerplay overs.

“He has a bag of tricks that you need against big hitters, especially in the first six balls when they are exposing their front pad. I have confidence in him now to bowl the 16th over against David,” du Plessis added. Mohsin has been exceptional in the MLC tournament, leading the wicket-takers chart with seven wickets in three games. TSK will face Seatle Orcas in their next game, while MINY, now in a must-win situation, will take on the Washington Freedom.
