The second phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 is all set to begin in the UAE on September 19 when Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will take on Mumbai Indians (MI). However, prior to that, CSK got a major blow as their experienced opener Faf Du Plessis has suffered an injury in the ongoing Caribbean Premier League (CPL 2021).
The veteran South African player has suffered a groin injury before the St Lucia Kings Vs Barbados Royals in CPL’s 28th match on Sunday as well. While he is the captain of the St. Lucia Kings in CPL, the seriousness of his injury is yet to be known.
However, in his absence, Andre Fletcher took the charge of the team in the match against Barbados. Faf Du Plessis who was in the sublime form before the injury had also smashed a brilliant unbeaten century as well. With his injury, St Lucia’s hopes of reaching the semi-finals have become dull.
