Faheem Ashraf excited to represent Pakistan in Test Cricket

In an age where Cricketers are giving up the traditional red-ball cricket to grab the riches of lucrative T20 cricket, Faheem Ashraf has pleasantly surprised everyone with his happiness. The rising Pakistani all-rounder has expressed his feelings about getting to represent Pakistan in Test cricket. Faheem Ashraf was selected in the 16-man squad to tour England and Ireland.

Pakistan Cricket Board took some brave decisions like including a lot many youngsters in Pakistan’s tour to Ireland and England which will start sometime later this month. The touring party includes five youngsters and it will be severely tested in unfamiliar conditions. The board had handed a spot to the All-rounder Faheem Ashraf also.

The 24-year old has represented Pakistan in the shorter formats, he has played 8 ODIs and 10 T20Is. His performances in Pakistan’s domestic cricket have been eye-catching. In the recently concluded Pakistan Super League, he was the joint highest wicket-taker.

Speaking about his inclusion, Faheem Ashraf said, “It’s the dream of every cricketer to play for your country at the Test level, which is the ultimate challenge,” said Ashraf, while talking to media at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on Friday. “I am extremely happy to be selected in the Test squad.”

“The goal is to cement my place permanently in all three formats of the game through consistent performances. I believe, to survive in all three formats, you need physical fitness and consistent form and I know that is the secret to success, which is why I am training hard,” Ashraf said.

Pakistan will be playing the historic debut Test of Ireland on 11th May and then will be traveling to England to play two Tests against them, starting from 24th May.
