Former Indian all-rounder, Suresh Raina was caught in some deep trouble on Monday night when he was arrested, booked, and later released on bail for attending a party at a Mumbai club which was found in violation of the Covid-19 norms. He was attending a party at the Dragonfly club near the Mumbai airport which was raided by the police, who took 34 people into custody including 7 staff members.

In a statement issued by Raina’s managing team, it states that the cricketer was in Mumbai for a shoot and he had visited the club after an invitation from a friend for a ‘quick dinner’. He was unaware of the protocols in place and once informed – like a good citizen – he complied with them.

After the incident, Mumbai Police, known for its digs and one-liners, tweeted this afternoon: “Party (Nahin) Chalegi Till Six In The Morning (Party will not go on till 6 in the morning)! A raid was conducted at a nightclub in Andheri at around 3 am, for flouting COVID prevention norms. Action has been initiated against 34 people, out of which 19 were from Delhi & Punjab, including some celebrities #NewNormal.”

Raina – who is loved by his fans – has found support on Twitter where they are standing by him during this hour:

Raina is no stranger to doing charity work and that is another reason why enjoys immense love from his fans. Recently, he opened a cricket academy to help underprivileged kids from rural parts of Kashmir take to the sport. Recently, he adopted 34 schools to ensure the good health of the students.

Suresh Raina decided to hang his boots from international cricket on August 15 this year after a glorious career that lasted 15 years. Raina played 18 Tests, 226 ODIs, and 78 T20Is in international cricket after making his ODI debut in July 2005 against Sri Lanka at the age of 19. His Test debut came about five years later, in July 2010, against the same opposition and he also amassed a century on debut in that match in Colombo.

Raina is the third batsman in the world and the first Indian to hit the T20I century. Also, Raina was the first-ever batsman to score a T20I century when batting at number 3 position or lower as well as in World T20 history as he did it in the 2010 ICC World T20. He is also the first Indian batsman to score centuries in all three formats of the game.
