It was a packed house at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium as Royal Challengers Bengaluru hosted Gujarat Titans in Match 34 of IPL 2026, marking RCB’s final home game of the season. But despite the sea of red in the stands, it was Sai Sudharsan who stole the spotlight with a magnificent century, powering Gujarat Titans into a commanding position.

The left-handed opener produced a masterclass on a slightly sticky surface, bringing up his hundred in just 57 balls. This was his third IPL century and the sixth hundred of the ongoing season, underlining his growing stature as one of the most consistent young batters in the league. From the outset, Sudharsan looked in complete control, combining timing with calculated aggression to keep the scoreboard ticking.
His innings was particularly impressive given the nature of the pitch, which offered some grip and made stroke play challenging. Yet, Sudharsan adapted brilliantly, striking 11 fours and five sixes in a well-paced knock. He eventually departed for 100 off 58 balls, dismissed by Josh Hazlewood, but not before putting Gujarat firmly in the driver’s seat.

The milestone also came shortly after Sudharsan etched his name in the record books by becoming the fastest player to reach 2000 IPL runs, achieving the feat in just 47 innings — quicker than Chris Gayle.
At the other end, Shubman Gill played a supporting role, scoring 32 off 24 balls. The opening duo stitched together a crucial 128-run partnership, laying a strong foundation for a big total. Gill was eventually dismissed by Suyash Sharma, who provided a timely breakthrough for RCB.
A quick cameo from Jos Buttler, who scored 25 off 16 balls, ensured GT maintained momentum in the middle overs.

For RCB, Bhuvneshwar Kumar was the standout bowler, delivering a disciplined spell of 1/31 from his four overs. With GT reaching 179/3 in 18 overs, the visitors looked well set to push beyond the 200-mark — a competitive total on a surface that has not been entirely batting-friendly. As the innings unfolded, fan reactions poured in for Sudharsan’s standout performance, which could prove pivotal in shaping the outcome of this high-stakes clash.
Never let the ray of hope go out.
