While the official heroes of India’s thrilling T20 World Cup victory over Pakistan were on the field, a different kind of celebration unfolded in the stands. Rinku Singh, a reserve player for India, along with fellow reserves Avesh Khan and Khaleel Ahmed, became internet sensations for their jubilant celebration after the win.

A video shared by Rinku’s IPL team, Kolkata Knight Riders, captured the trio’s infectious enthusiasm. Dressed in casual attire, they danced and cheered, their joy echoing the emotions of millions of Indian fans. Fans on social media reveled in their display, with many calling Rinku a “lucky charm” for the team.

“Rinku Bhai keeps the mood light in the dugout and team hotel…you are our lucky charm and keep training too if the need arises,” wrote one fan, highlighting Rinku’s positive influence. Another dubbed the celebration the “moment of the day,” while others expressed their desire to see Rinku included in the main squad.

“Rinku we miss you very hard. Please BCCI do something and take Rinku in the squad,” pleaded a fan, echoing a sentiment shared by many. The call for Rinku’s inclusion reflects his strong performance in the IPL this year, which, unfortunately, wasn’t enough to secure him a permanent spot in the World Cup squad.

While the reserves celebrated in the stands, the on-field battle was a nail-biter. India, batting first, struggled with the bat. Big names like Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Suryakumar Yadav failed to make significant contributions. It was the duo of Axar Patel and Rishabh Pant who salvaged some pride, helping India reach a modest total of 119 runs.

Pakistan’s chase mirrored India’s struggles. Haris Rauf and Naseem Shah shone for Pakistan with three wickets each, but India’s bowling attack, led by Jasprit Bumrah’s three wickets and Hardik Pandya’s two scalps, held firm. Pakistan fell short by a narrow margin of six runs, handing India their second consecutive victory in the tournament.

With this win, India stands in a strong position to qualify for the Super 8 stage, while Pakistan’s chances of progressing hang by a thread. While Rinku Singh and his fellow reserves may not have been on the field, their off-field celebration serves as a reminder of the team spirit and unwavering support that often fuels a team’s success.
