Former South Africa fast bowler Vernon Philander became viral on social media because of his comments after India defeated Australia by six wickets in the third T20I at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The veteran applauded Suryakumar Yadav for playing a match-winning knock of 69 off 36 balls with the help of five fours and as many sixes as well.
India chased down 187 with one ball in hand and Suryakumar Yadav earned the Player of the Match award for his stupendous knock under the pressure. Philander said that it was exciting to watch him smash the Aussie bowlers all around the park. However, he called Suryakumar a ‘kid’, and it didn’t go down well with the fans on Twitter.
Philander took to Twitter and wrote, “This kid can play. Wow exciting to watch.“ Thereafter, the veteran faced a lot of trolls. One of the fans wrote, “He is not a kid anymore. He has become your DADDY!” Moreover, another fan wrote, “The kid is only 5 years younger than you.”

Rohit Sharma, the India captain said: “It’s a special place. We have had great memories playing for India and when I played for Deccan Chargers as well. Biggest positive was different individuals stepping up and delivering. You feel good about it as a management. Margin of error in T20s is small. We took our chances, we were brave as well. Sometime it doesn’t come off. There are areas to improve as well. Not easy coming back after a break against a tough team. They (Bumrah and Harshal) will take some time. Hopefully they can get back into their groove in the next series.”
