After defeating Australia at their home, the Indian cricket team is the currently locking horns with New Zealand in the series opener of the 5-match series at the McLean Park, in Napier. The veteran Indian fast bowler, Mohammed Shami made early inroads for India as he dismissed both the Kiwi openers under first five overs. However, any game is incomplete without the Lightening fast stumping of MS Dhoni.

Earlier, the Indian skipper Virat Kohli lost the toss in the batting friendly conditions as the home skipper Kane Williamson asked the visitors to bowl first. His decision was backfired as Shami dismissed both the openers. As compared to final ODI against Australia, India made two changes to their squad for the Napier ODI as Dinesh Karthik, Ravindra Jadeja made way for Amabati Rayudu and Kuldeep Yadav.

The hosts were already leering at 148/8 when Kuldeep Yadav got his third wicket in form of Lockie Ferguson with the help of brilliant stumping from Dhoni in the 36th over of the game.

On the second ball of the over, Kuldeep demonstrated his brilliance by looping the ball up for the lower-order batsman which pulled him forward. It was googly from the bowler and Ferguson failed to pick it as the bowl went past his outside edge and straight into Dhoni’s gloves. A millisecond later the bails were off and stumps are broken with Ferguson’s back leg on the line. Even the third umpire Nigel Llong suggested the batsman go back to the pavilion.

However, the New Zealand team was bundled out for a meager score of 157 with Kuldeep taking four wickets for India and only Williamson managed to score a half-century, but it was insufficient to make an impact.
