FIR registered against Vinod Kambli for allegedly assaulting wife

Former India player Vinod Kambli has come under the scanner after reportedly hitting his wife Andrea Hewitt under the influence of alcohol at his Bandra (West) flat in Mumbai on Friday, February 3. It can be understood that Andrea filed an FIR against him for allegedly abusing and assaulting her as well.

As per the reports, Bandra police have shared that Vinod Kambli has been booked under IPC section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons) and 504 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace). However, no arrest has been made in connection with the incident as further investigation is going on.

A report from Times of India also suggested that the incident took place between 1:00-1.30 pm on Friday when he reached his flat and was drunk. Moreover, he threw the handle of a cooking pan at her due to which she sustained a head injury as confirmed by an official from Bandra police station as well.

Their 12-year-old son, who was also present during the time of the incident, came to stop the fight. However, Vinod, who was inebriated, went further to hit Andrea. As far as his cricketing career is concerned, Vinod Kambli played his last international match in the year 2000 but announced his retirement in 2011 as well. He was last seen in the sport as a coach of a team in the 2019 T20 Mumbai League and he also mentored players at the Tendulkar Middlesex Global Academy but left the job due to the long travel as well.
