Bangladesh cricketer Mohammad Ashraful is the youngest player to score a Test century. During a Test match against Sri Lanka at Colombo (SSC) in September 2001, the debutant Mohammad Ashraful scored 114 runs in the third innings of the game. At the age of 17 years and 63 days, Ashraful achieved this record and became the youngest Test centurion that is still intact.

The right-handed batsman broke the record of Pakistan cricketer Mushtaq Mohammad’s record who had scored his first Test century at the age of 17 years and 82 days (against India at Delhi in February 1961).
