Former India spinner Ravichandran Ashwin made a hilarious take on Pakistan ahead of the India-Pakistan T20 World Cup 2026 match. However, the Pakistan government officially withdrew its boycott of the T20 World Cup 2026 match against the Indian team on February 10.

Talking on ‘Ash ki Baat’, Ashwin said, “I had told ten days before only that this match will happen. You should have listened that time only and gotten your tickets. Flights have also gotten costly now. You should have followed my advice. Now it is a loss for you guys. If you look economics wise, you saying you will come for the World Cup, play in Sri Lanka, but not play you, does not make any sense. It feels like when we would play in childhood, if someone would not contribute for the tennis ball, everyone would say not to call that person the next time. This story is also like that.”

“I think all the Indian players would have known that the game will happen. Even if I was in that dressing room, I would also know that this contest will happen. If it did not happen, then it is a different situation. It is not in our hands, we should only control what we can. There was no real problem as the Indian team would get two points even if they did not play. But I think sanity has prevailed and the right thing is going to happen,” he shared again.

Ravichandran Ashwin also stated that having to follow their government’s orders and the pressure of not losing against India would make things a lot more difficult as well.

“If we put ourselves in the shoes of a Pakistan player, it is very difficult for them. They have to follow the orders and take the pressure. I don’t think it is easy for a cricketer as there is already so much hype and trolling on social media on both sides. Being a Pakistani cricketer is even more difficult in the social media times,” R Ashwin concluded.
