Forgot my passport, phone: Riyan Parag shares his excitement after Zimbabwe series call-up

Talented youngster Riyan Parag has said that he was so excited about making the trip to Zimbabwe for the upcoming T20I series that he forgot his passport and phone as well. Notably, Parag earned his maiden India call-up for the series, which will begin on July 6 and will go on until July 14 as well. However, Parag is one among many new faces in the Indian team for the tour of Zimbabwe.

The BCCI posted a special video with the youngsters where they shared their feelings after being picked for the tour as they departed for Zimbabwe on July 2, Tuesday. The Assam batter also shared his excitement about being part of the team and travelling with them, which he had dreamed of as a kid as well. Parag also said while the team is a new one, there are a lot of old familiar faces too in the side with whom he has played in the past.

“From my childhood, I had dreamed of travelling like this. We play cricket a lot but other things which come with, like travelling with the team and wearing the Indian team clothes. So excited that I forgotten my passport, my phone. I have not forgotten but I misplaced them. I have it now. It’s a new team. Almost a very new team. A lot of new faces in the Indian squad but a lot of old faces as well as I have played with them a lot,” said Parag.

Riyan Parag further said that Zimbabwe will have a special connection with him and it will be a great moment for him when he makes his debut.

“A young boy from Assam was always dreaming about this. Now it has finally come true. A lot of happiness is there. And Zimbabwe will have a special connection. Whenever I play my first match, it will be a special moment for that ground and myself, which will be very secret,” said Parag.
