Sarandeep Singh said, “I do not understand what is the meaning of rest? You can only rest if you are scoring 100s. We can understand if he is playing for the last 3 months, has scored 4/5 100s, he has got the liberty to take rest and then he can say he needs rest.”

The former selector continued by saying that sitting out of a series and resting will do no good not help the star batter regain his lost form. He explained, “Even before IPL, he played 2 Test matches, did not play ODIs and T20Is. Then after IPL, he did not play the T20Is against South Africa. Sitting out and resting will not help you to get back in form.”

Kohli’s poor run continued on Thursday against England as he is yet to surpass the 20-run mark on the England tour. The former Indian captain scored just 16 runs before being dismissed by David Willey. The Indian team eventually lost the game by a huge margin of 100 runs as Reece Topley picked up six wickets.

The 33-year-old’s England tour hasn’t gone according to plan as he has been struggling during the rearranged Test and the T20I series against the hosts.
