Ace Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been ruled out from New Zealand One-Day International series, which will commence from February 13. Shakib sustained a finger injury during recently concluded Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) final, where his team failed to win the title. Scans revealed that his figure has been fractured and will take to fully recover.
“An x-ray was done after the match and the results have confirmed a fracture on the left ring finger. The affected area will now have to be immobilized for around three weeks,” BCB Senior Physician Dr. Debashis Chowdhury said

The incident occurred while Shakib copped a blow on his finger by Sri Lankan all-rounder Thisara Perera during BPL final between Comilla Victorians and Dhaka Dynamites.
Shakib has been in excellent form in recent times. In the BPL, he captained the Dynamites to the final. Moreover, he was stupendous with both bat and ball. In 15 games for his franchise, Shakib racked up 301 runs at an average of 21.50 with a top score of 61 not out. He also finished amongst the top wicket-takers in the tournament, having notched 23 wickets at an economy of 7.25.

The veteran all-rounder is likely to miss the cricketing action for the upcoming three weeks. Thus, he may miss the first of three Test matches against New Zealand as well. The Test series will commence from February 28 in Hamilton. However, it is highly unlikely that Shakib may play the whole New Zealand tour keeping the recovery time in mind. Also, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) may not show any hurry for his comeback as the all-important ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 is around the corner.
This isn’t the same finger that was operated upon in September last year. Shakib, having recovered from the accumulated pus in his finger, made a comeback to cricket in the Test series against the Windies at home in November, and went on to make his ODI return against the same opposition in the limited-overs series that followed soon after.
