Ganguly Barred From Commenting On Dhoni’s Exclusion On Central Contracts

Amidst all the debates and discussions regarding the exclusion of MS Dhoni from the list of the central contracts created by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), the board President, Sourav Ganguly refused to comment on Dhoni’s exclusion from the list.

Dhoni has been on a sabbatical from competitive cricket ever since the semi-final loss of India against New Zealand during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019. And, he had also opted out of subsequent series, which created the rumors of him announcing his retirement from the sport.

Recently, his former team-mate Harbhajan Singh had also said that according to him, it was the end of the road for Dhoni and even a good IPL cannot bring him back. Ganguly in his recent public appearance, while speaking to the media, denied commenting on this situation. “I can’t comment on this,” said Ganguly as quoted by The Quint.

This statement will do nothing but will fuel much more speculations regarding Dhoni’s future. One side has the team’s Head Coach, Ravi Shastri, saying that Dhoni had conveyed his message to the dressing room. And, the other side has Sourav straight up went in denial.

The fans, though might not see Dhoni will not be donning the Indian blues anymore, there is still some cricket to be played by him in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL). Adding to their joy, MS has already started his preparation as he was spotted in the stadium in his home town, Ranchi practicing with the Jharkhand Ranji team. This was Dhoni’s first public practice session for a long time.

With the situation continuing to get complex day by day, it is Dhoni himself, who can clarify the matter. And, he does not seem to have any plans to make any announcement for now. But, as everyone knows, that day is not far away, when the man, who is the reason many people watch the sport will quietly walk away from the sport.
