Suryakumar Yadav’s luck at the toss continued to desert him in the Australia T20I series, as the Indian captain lost his fourth toss in five matches. Still, he walked away grinning, joined by Head Coach Gautam Gambhir and Jasprit Bumrah, who couldn’t help but laugh at the skipper’s ongoing misfortune.

Across the five-match series, India arrived in Brisbane with a 2-1 lead, but when it came to tosses, Suryakumar trailed Mitchell Marsh 3-1. The only time the coin favoured him was back in Hobart, where he secured his first and only win of the series. In Brisbane, however, Marsh once again called correctly, and Suryakumar acknowledged it with a broad smile, taking the moment sportingly even as Australia chose to bowl first.

What followed was a lighthearted exchange in the middle, with Gambhir cracking a joke that had Suryakumar laughing it off. Bumrah joined the fun too, applauding and shaking his head in playful disbelief at the captain’s streak of bad luck.

Away from the toss drama, India found a bright spark in Abhishek Sharma. Since making his T20I debut in 2024, the left-handed opener has made an instant impact, crossing 1000 international T20 runs and smashing two centuries. His rise has been one of the most exciting developments for India in the shortest format, adding a powerful new dimension to the top order.
