Gautam Gambhir, known for his outspoken nature, never hesitates to express his honest opinions when assessing team performances or players. While he may appear calm off the field, Gambhir is not one to hold back when provoked or when it comes to defending his teammates. He doesn’t hesitate to challenge anyone he believes is in the wrong, disregarding reputations in the process.
His candid approach has sometimes led to controversies and heated exchanges, both with opponents and occasionally with his own teammates. Gambhir’s on-field confrontations with Virat Kohli have become legendary. The most recent incident occurred during the IPL 2023 when the two players confronted each other after a tense clash between the Lucknow Super Giants and the Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Rumors of a supposed rift between Gambhir and the legendary MS Dhoni have circulated for a long time, but Gambhir has previously dismissed them.
In a recent conversation with News18, the two-time World Cup winner clarified that his rivalry with players like Kohli and Dhoni is limited to the field and is not personal. “Normally, I don’t discuss my relationships,” Gautam Gambhir explained. “This question has been asked of me regarding MS Dhoni as well – how is my relationship with MS Dhoni? I have the same relationship with MS Dhoni as I do with Virat Kohli.”
